An Eyeopener Tour from St. Louis to Louisville
Our 2010 out-of-town Eyeopener Tour takes us from the Gateway to the West to the Gateway of the South for a five day pilgrimage to visionary artists, landmark architecture, stunning museums, private collections, plus two jaw-dropping hotels. Among the St. Louis highlights will be the wild and woolly City Museum and the Cathedral Basilica, which contains the largest mosaic art collection in the world. On the road through Indiana we'll visit "The Loneliest Museum in America", a jeweled grotto environment, and a spectacular 1902 resort hotel that was constructed under a free-span dome that was the Astrodome of its day. In downtown Louisville we'll go from folk art to cutting-edge contemporary art by crossing a street; the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft sits directly across from our lodging place, the art-filled 21C Hotel, recently voted as the top hotel in the United States. Of course there will be much, much more.
This tour may already be sold out. Please call the Orange Show at 713-926-6368 for more information.
On September 13, 2008, Hurricane Ike struck Galveston with incredible force, but the spirit of Galveston was stronger. Experience several of the island's artistically diverse, restored spaces. Lunch is at the historic Mosquito Cafe located in the East End Historic District.
75% of the island was flooded and some places had more than 8' of water. Ike caused 2.3 billion dollars of damage. But, Galvestonians are a hardy lot who love their island! Whether they are BOI (born on the island) or IBC (islander by choice) they are proud to live in Galveston. After the initial shock of the storm damage, islanders got to work cleaning up and repairing structures. Restoration continues to this day.
Luxury bus with snacks, adult libations and fabulous people leaves from the Orange Show promptly at 10am on Sunday, November 14 and returns approximately 6pm. Price is $55 for Orange Show Members and $75 for non-members - includes lunch.
